Challenges Ahead!

Thursday, September 26, 2013

Allo there! Hope you all have been having a good week. To explain the title a little, my boyfriend proposed a challenge to me - to cut down on my spending. At first, it was to not buy anything at all for a month, but I told him I already had some er... pending transactions. I'm notorious for spending money before I have it. Not exactly spending it, since I don't physically have it, but bidding on items on eBay or setting up deals on "for sale" groups on Facebook so that basically my entire cheque is spoken for before I get it. The challenge now is to not buy anything BESIDES that Lauren Moffatt dress for a month and if I'm able to, he'll buy me a gift card for Modcloth. Pretty sweet deal right? Except I'm already doubting myself. I feel like I don't have enough fall type outfits, not enough long sleeves. So many of my dresses are nautical themed and are just summery. Others will transition to fall with a little creativity and layering but I'm not good at being creative, ha. That's why I buy dresses - I don't have to mess with separates. An outfit is already made for me!

I also need to start experimenting with tights. It's almost like I've forgotten how since I haven't worn them in awhile. I have so many pairs (at least 40+!) and the only pair that got any action over the summer was a plain white pair that I wore to rock the 60s mod look. I decided to test run these cityscape style tights. I saw an identical pair online a few months ago and was happy to find a knock off pair at Icings.

I had gotten the dress at a place in Windsor called Priced Green. It's a nifty little store where I take my clothes rather than donating them. They pay you a dollar per pound of clothes or $2 credit and everything in the store is under $5. I essentially traded in some clothes I was getting rid of anyways for this cute little, mod style dress!

I have to laugh because some of these photos (and the last batch) my proportions look kind of strange, like I'm top heavy with really skinny legs. I think my boyfriend being a foot taller than me is doing some weird funhouse mirror tricks!

    1. Thanks! It's going to be tough for me. I'm used to buying a million things on eBay that are $10-20 a piece. It's going to be tough to stick to one item this month! But definitely check out Icings! I just got them so they are probably still there :) Size up as much as you can though. I got the XL and they are still super tiny!

  2. Beautiful dress! Rad tights! <3 I wish you luck with that spending challenge, also! It goes without saying that it will probably be hell on Earth haha, especially if you're like me and you browse shopping sites every free chance you can get. ;D I'm seriously thinking about doing a similar challenge but for an entire year! We'll see if I have the balls to do it!

Oh and I answered your email! I wanted to make sure I told you, just in case the reply went straight to your spam folder (as this has happened with people I've communicated with in the past). :D

    Take it easy!

  3. Oh I love those tights! I have quite a few pairs and tend to forget what I have, as well. Might need to start organizing mine a bit!

    1. I had that exact same thought of needed to organize too! I had them all rolled up, stuffed in a drawer 4 layers deep. I was throwing them all on the floor every time I was looking for something specific. I just ordered a clear over the door shoe holder on eBay. That way I can see them all and I will only have to displace 2 pairs max to get at the pair I want :)
